    Quote

The future is made of the actions of the present, each and every one, the choices of the moment inadvertently strung together to produce the desired trail. To live each and every day in the best possible manner would afford her a life without regret, and a life without regret was the key to an acceptance of inevitable death.

    Return to Costa Rica

Count down..., 5 more days and I'll be in Costa Rica.
Looking back this 5 years in LA, it puts a smile in my face. The first 2 years here were the hardests, but I met some of great friends (closer to brothers now: Bruce, Elvin & Desmond) playing basketball; from there my life took a complete 180 degrees turnaround. Ming's arrival stated another phase of my life, so many good memories, lot of fun (with Shawn, Sho, Chris); not sure how much I was able to teach him, but I'm sure I learned more from him. I will miss Keth (my female version, just much prettier), Pak (blue butterfly), Jenny (eternal Mui Mui), Lala, Corie, Rita.
I always heard that a lucky person will encounter one or two true friends in his/her life, but I already consider myself one of the luckiest.
Thanks guys, for being with me in bad and good times, specially the bad ones. Love you all...

*PS: Costa Rica is just 5 hours fly from LA!!!

    Typical day at work

9:15 I rush through the office doors, "late again... do we have a meeting today?

9:20  Check e-mails, "damn it... how come they always complain the prices are too high???"

9:30   I call supplier, me: "come man, I need you to give me at least $2 per ton..."

supplier: "take it or leave it"

me: "dude, if I don't buy, nobody will and you will regret it"

... (after 5 mins of dead silence in the phone) ...

me: "ok, I'll take the 1000MT, can I still have the Clippers tickets?"

    supplier: "nope"

    me: "how about Lakers then"

    ... supplier hangs up

10-12 Meeting, everybody is falling sleep, at least I get to complain for 30 mins about why meetings take so long

12-14 Chinese food sucks around here

14:15 I stare to my computer trying to look busy

17:30 Time to go home... let's check the traffic, "shit... another accident on the 91"

19:00 Struck in traffic and hungry, mental note to myself: "take the bus tomorrow"

    Tanita's stop

So glad to see her again, can't believe the last time we saw each other was 15 months ago, how time flies.
We went to Hooters @ Santa Monica, is it me or the hot wings don't taste as good as before? Anyway it was very cool to be able to catch up about how our lifes turned since I came here.
I wish her all the best in Shanghai and hope she doesn't get all the cuties there...

    Surprising Friday (last week)

This is more an update about last week...
Let me start with Friday morning, as usual I finishing "Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown; very interesting facts.
Later, I went with Linda to Santorini's Cafe, I haven't had such pleasant dinner in such a long time, I really enjoyed her company. Later, we went to Rage, I had a very different idea of the place but the evening couldn't have ended better than that.

I started "Deception Point" by Dan Brown and "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton. So many books, not enough time...

    Newly

I just finished reading "Harry Potter  - the Half-Blood Prince", it has a few quite surprises at the end of the book; and leaves wide open how Harry will act in the next book... damn, another 2 more years of waiting.

Currently my next reading is: How to stop worrying and start living by Dale Carnegie, because I really feel that I need some guidance in my career; I think I'm doing good by placing my personal fullfilment and passion for my job above money at this moment.

"Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand" -Thomas Carlyle

Sir William Osier (1871) teaches us:
    • The future is today... there is no tomorrow. The day of man's salvation is now. Waste of energy, mental distress, nervous worries dog the steps of a man who is anxious about the future. Shut close, then the great fore and aft bulkheads and prepare to cultivate the habit of life of "day tight compartments"
    • Best possible way to prepare for tomorrow is to concentrate with all your intelligence, all your enthusiasm, on doing today's work superbly today. Tha is the only possible way you can prepare for the future
    • Good thinking deals with causes and effets and leads to logial, constructive planning; bad thinking frequently leads to tension and nervous breakdowns

    Kissing

There was a couple kissing, suddenly the gal stopped her lover and asked: "Why do you like to kiss for hours?" He responded, "kissing is just a way I express what I feel for you, it's like talking to you, just in a silent way". Puzzled she asked again, "What will happen when you don't kiss me anymore?". Surely he responded: "Then you know I stopped loving you"

    Graduation

"Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality."
    - Ralph Marston

So this Saturday will be my graduation ceremony; my parents and Alex are visiting, it's good to have them around.

After a short chat with Liliana, I rediscovered why I love "International Business", the idea of travelling to so many new places, encounter new faces and help people deal and embrace their different cultural differences, is just so thrilling.

    Facts of the day:
    - Apples are more efficient than caffeine in keeping people awake in the mornings.
    - Your skin accounts for 16% of your body weight.
    - Women are more likely than men to smile when giving bad news.
    - Our eyes never grow; our nose and ears never stop growing.

    Update

"Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue."
    - Scott Adams

After a crazy last weekend, seems this one will be for catching up lost sleep and gym sessions. If you ask me how was my week, just read the quote. But I'll try to learn from the bad and keep the good experiences.
Hey Ming, from now on, no more dissapointments.

In restrocpective, last week was full of surprises and turns; met old and made new friends; who I will see at the end of this road?
San Diego's trip was Saturday and Sunday. When I saw her, it's true, "Women are like wine, get better with time"

    Sunday nite

"We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing"

How dissapointing, San Antonio lost the 1st game at home vs. Denver; Spurs went 4-for-21 in the fourth, while the Nuggets were 6-for-19. Well, TD is only at 60-70%, Popovich is going to make the necessary adjustments to win the next game.

Even after a very tiring saturday night of party and a long visit to my dear Terri and her new home, I'm looking forward to go to work tomorrow, let's put it this way, the sooner I go to work the sooner I will be enjoying the next coming weekend.

Luckily, we found a new roomate, so guys we have to keep it down when you come to my place, wait a min, there havent been a party at my place, damn...
